Alonzo Eric Kurre, 101, of Friedheim died Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, at the home of his daughter-in-law in Friedheim.

He was born Oct. 14, 1915, in Daisy to Ira Otis and Linnie Rose Kayser Kurre. He and Ella Elsie Hobeck were married Nov. 19, 1936. She died April 17, 1997.

Alonzo was a self-employed carpenter and farmer in the Friedheim and Daisy area.

He was a lifelong member of New Salem United Methodist Church.

He served as a 4-H leader for the Arnsberg 4-H Club for over 25 years and was a member of the Daisy Travelers Band, which toured various nursing homes playing for the elderly.

He is survived by two daughters, June (Richard) Oehl of Friedheim and Joan (Lloyd) Ford of Anderson, Indiana; a daughter-in-law, Jackie Kurre of Friedheim; eight grandchildren, Rodney and Ronald Oehl, Wesley and Joel Kurre, Anne Abner, Robert and Eric Ford and Kim Oliver; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie; a son, Bill; a granddaughter, Jean Ann Ward; a great-grandson, Joshua Oehl; five brothers, Fred, Edwin, Lester, Phillip and Milton; and three sisters, Ruth, Mae and Mattie.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Steve Koerner officiating. Burial will be at New Salem United Methodist Cemetery in Daisy.

Memorial contributions may be given to New Salem Church or Cemetery Fund.
