George Donald Callis, 76, of Jackson died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center in Sikeston, Missouri.

He was born July 17, 1940, in Mayfield, Kentucky, to George H. and Novella Myatt Callis. He married Carol Inez Minton on Jan. 17, 1960, in Thebes, Illinois.

George attended Cape County Cowboy Church.

He was a sales representative for Hoover Vacuum Cleaners for 17 years. He then worked as an agent for Coldwell Banker Real Estate for many years before retiring.

He was a big Cardinals baseball fan and liked to buy, sell and trade collectibles.

Survivors include two sons, Mitchell Callis of Indianapolis and Jerry (Terri) Callis of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Carol (special friend Gary King) Yvonne of Scott City; five grandchildren, Dustin (Tara) Parker of Cape Girardeau, Lindsey Parker of Iowa, Ashley (special friend Ben Wyatt) Callis of Murray, Kentucky, Callie Jo (special friend Alex Lashley) Callis of St. Louis and Abby Callis of Indianapolis; six great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way in July.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Naomi Finley.

Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018, or to the Alzheimer's Association, 9370 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63132.
