Evelyn Stovall, 93, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017, at Ratliff Care Center.

She was born Aug. 20, 1923, in Stoddard County, Missouri, to the late Leo Richard and Wilma Strauser Pletcher. Evelyn and Max G. Stovall were married March 29, 1947, in Cape Girardeau.

She was a lifelong member of First Church of the Nazarene in Cape Girardeau and was an avid reader. Her husband, Max, may have served the needs of the community, but the strength behind him was his supportive wife, Evelyn. Max passed away July 30, 2011.

She guided her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with love and strength with God's help. She will be dearly missed by her family and everyone who knew her. Her family was her entire world.

Loving survivors include a daughter, Nancy (Tom) Ross Jr. of St. Louis; daughter-in-law, Jane Stovall of Egypt Mills; grandchildren, Gina Henry of St. Louis, Cody (Amy) Stovall of Cape Girardeau and Kate (Matt) Buchheit of Jackson; great-grandchildren, Lauren Henry, Lane Conrad and Raelyn Stovall; great-stepgrandchild, Elise Buchheit; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Maxine Jean Stovall; son, Mark Stovall; husband, Max G. Stovall; two brothers; and one sister.

Evelyn's wishes were to keep things simple. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating.
