Edward N. "Bud" Crites, 78, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at Heartland Care and Rehab.

He was born Oct. 19, 1938, in Cape Girardeau to the late Loy and Gladys Ervin Crites. He and Ann Fuhrmann were married Feb. 14, 1960, in Cape Girardeau.

Bud was a 1956 graduate of Central High School. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy as well as the Army. He was an operating engineer with Local 513, and also worked for his father at Crites and Sailer Construction Co. Bud was a member of St. Mark's Masonic Lodge No. 93, Elks Lodge No. 639, a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite Valley of St. Louis, and past patron of the Cape Rock Chapter No. 60 OES. He was an avid golfer and member of the Kimbeland Country Club.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ann Crites; daughters, Carolyn (Brad) Figliolo and Jennifer (Joe) McLemore; and great-granddaughter, Makenzie Figliolo, all of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sue Crites.

A celebration of life gathering will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Elks Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

Private entombment will take place at a later date at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
