ADVANCE, Mo. -- Marie Elizabeth Payne, 72, of Advance passed away Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, at Advance Nursing Center.

She was born Dec. 8, 1944, in St. Louis, the daughter of Leon and Viola Dalavirs Morris.

Marie was a lifelong cook. She worked as a cook at Town and Country in Advance. If anyone left her house hungry, it was their own fault because she had a passion for cooking and making sure everyone had enough.

Marie was a firecracker and never at a loss for words. She had a big heart but didn't care what people thought, so if you didn't want her opinion, you shouldn't have asked.

A couple of her most used phrases were: "Well, that's just stupid," "Kiss my (blank)," "Holy (blank)," "What the (blank) is your problem?" "I'm not playing your games," "I'm gonna knock the (blank) of out you," and, "Make me a drink, Zach."

As rough as these quotes may sound, she had a heart the size of Texas and enjoyed being outside, having a good time and partying with the best of them. Cheers!

Marie and Michael Veltri were united in marriage, and he preceded her in death Dec. 8, 1984. She later married Denver Payne on Dec. 31, 1988, and he preceded her in death Jan. 7, 2015.

Survivors include two sons, Patrick Murphy of Fenton, Missouri, and Delbert Murphy of Jackson; a daughter, Theresa Simms of Advance; a stepdaughter, Ginger Hewitt of Advance; two brothers, James Morris of St. Charles, Missouri, and Mike Morris of North Dakota; a sister, Joyce Weiss of Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; a daughter, Jacqueline Woods; and two sisters, Kathleen Remstedt and Jane Tomazi.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with Blake Lingle officiating. Burial will be at McGee New Hope Cemetery in McGee, Missouri.
