Thomas Kimmel

Thomas Craig Kimmel, aka “Treetrimmer,” passed away Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri, at the age of 72.

Tom was born Nov. 30, 1944, in Cape Girardeau, to Ida Mae Fitzgerald and Raymond Kimmel. He and his wife, Dianna, were married in February 1965 and spent the past 30-plus years of their lives in Oriole.

Tom worked as a utility tree trimmer during his early adult life and was a lifelong, self-proclaimed riverrat. He loved fishing for catfish, playing the guitar, singing, eating gummy bears, building model airplanes and watching sci-fi movies. Tom prided himself on being an artist and inventor.

Tom never met a stranger and he lived his life as a constant show-and-tell, eager to share his thoughts, wisdom and ideas with anyone who would listen.

Tom is survived by Dianna, his devoted and loving wife of 51 years; his daughter, Angela (Daniel) Snider of Oriole; and one granddaughter, Tia (Corbin) Brand of New Orleans. He also is survived by two half brothers, Monty Baylor and Jimmy Baylor, both of Cape Girardeau.

Tom had great love for his family. His wife, parents, siblings, child, grandchild, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends each held a special place in his heart. He will be dearly missed by all.

In keeping with Tom’s wishes to donate his body to science, there will be no funeral service.
