Cora Lee Sample

Cora Lee Sample, 77, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born June 10, 1939, in Cape Girardeau to William and Corene Tucker Moore Frentzel. She and Doyle W. Sample were married June 16, 1957, at Cape Girardeau. He passed away Feb. 3, 2009.

Cora Lee was owner/operator of Pop's Pizza in Cape Girardeau for more than 30 years and owner/operator of Sample Carpet in Cape Girardeau many years. She was a sales representative for Home Interior, also for over 30 years. For the last three years she has served as hostess at Huddle House.

She was a partner in the Jimmy Swaggart Ministries.

Cora Lee was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, mother-in-law, sister-in-law and friend. She was truly the matriarch of her family and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia "Patti" (Gary) Popp of Cape Girardeau; daughter-in-law, Char Sample of Cape Girardeau; brothers, Jim (Carolyn) Moore of St. Charles, Missouri, Kenny (Charlotte) Frentzel of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Junior Frentzel of Smithton, Illinois, and Tim "Joker" (Julie) Frentzel of O'Fallon, Illinois; sisters, Emma Jane Culver and Kay (Ernie) Barbee, both of Columbia, Missouri; sister-in-law, Judy Frentzel of Cape Girardeau; uncle, Charlie Tucker of Overland Park, Kansas; grandchildren, Kirsten Poole Popp, Cheryl (Junior) Koenig, Harley Sample, Bo and Loveta Miller, Lacey Myers and Larissa Hawthorne; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; her son, Brad W. Sample; brothers, Victor, Chuck and Sammy Frentzel; and sister, Trudy Shaw.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Wavis Jordan and Mike Hutchins officiating. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
