Carol Bruhl, 82, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at Jackson Manner.

She was born Dec. 31, 1934, in Chicago, daughter of Edward Charles and Louise Katherine Dockter Schaefer. She and Robert Bruhl were married July 20, 1957, in Park Ridge, Illinois.

Before Carol became a stay-at-home mom, she worked for a time as an administrative assistant at Play Boy Industries and for Western Electric in Chicago. After raising her son, she went to work for a local motel. She also enjoyed volunteering first at Cook County Archive and then at Cape Girardeau County Archive Center after moving to Jackson.

Loving survivors include her husband of nearly 60 years, Robert Bruhl; a son, George Daniel Bruhl II of Oak Grove, Kentucky; a brother, George Edward Arthur Schaefer of Poplar Grove, Illinois; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at McCombs Funeral home in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at noon Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rodney Pensel officiating. Interment will be Tuesday at Russell Heights Cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. John's United Church of Christ.
