Douglas K. Johnson, 69, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center. He was born March 5, 1948, in Cape Girardeau to Ernest and Glonda Langston Johnson. Douglas K. Johnson, 69, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born March 5, 1948, in Cape Girardeau to Ernest and Glonda Langston Johnson.

He and Alice Marie Hulshof were married Saturday, June 15, 1974, at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran, Missouri. She preceded him in death Jan. 18, 2015.

Douglas served in the U.S. Army, worked for Huttig Building Products for 25 years, Dana Corp. and, most recently, as a security guard at Southeast Hospital. He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and was an avid Cardinals fan.

Survivors include his daughter, Amy Johnson of Cape Girardeau; brother, Bruce (Marilyn) Johnson of St. Louis; and sister, Peggy (William) Klipfel of Oran.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joseph Kelly officiating. Entombment will follow, with full military rites, at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Ford and Sons Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses.
