It has pleased our Heavenly Father to call to life eternal Frederick Arthur Meier from The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at the age of 90 years.
He was born Feb. 19, 1927, in Milwaukee to William and Elsa Jennrich Meier. Frederick was received into God's kingdom through Holy Baptism on March 13, 1927.
He was a Lutheran teacher and minister of music, having served in Lafayette, Indiana; Milwaukee; and Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin.
On Aug. 7, 1954, Frederick was married to Helen Koschmann at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. The Lord blessed their union with five children.
Frederick is survived by a daughter, Christine (the Rev. Douglas) Breite; three sons, the Rev. Dr. Peter (Kathy) Meier, Philip (Linda) Meier and John (Dr. Svetlana) Meier; 12 grandchildren, David (Susan) Meier, Jennifer (Matthew) Smith, Daniel (Jessica) Meier, Nicholas Meier, Leah (Jason) Gedvilas, William Meier, Emily Meier, Samuel Breite, Abigail Breite and Phillip, Mark and Julianne Meier; and six great-grandchildren.
He is further survived by a sister-in-law, Gertrude (Samuel) Staples, and by a brother-in-law, Dr. Edgar Koschmann.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Meier; their infant son, Mark Meier; his parents; his brother, Willard Meier; and his sister, Dorothy Meier Brandt.
A memorial service will be held in Milwaukee.
The family requests memorials be given to Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
