O'FALLON, Mo. -- William M. "Bill" Felty Jr., 59, formerly of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at his home in O'Fallon.

He was born Feb. 13, 1958, in Cape Girardeau to William M. and Genece Sawyer Felty.

He was a 1976 graduate of Jackson High School.

He and Ella Dye were married June 19, 1982.

Bill was an assistant professor of accounting at Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis.

He was a member of Sunrise United Methodist Church in O'Fallon; Gideons International in Wentzville, Missouri; the American Institute of CPAs; and the Missouri Society of CPAs.

He loved music, the outdoors, hiking, biking, traveling, coin collecting and teaching. He was happiest spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ella Felty of O'Fallon; a son, Daniel Felty of Jefferson City; his mother, Genece Felty; a brother, Richard Felty of Cape Girardeau; and loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Felty Sr.; grandparents, Robert and Hazel Sawyer and Webster and Olive Felty; and mother-in-law, Margie Dye.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Blue officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery near Millersville.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or Gideons International.
