Melvin Troy "Tye-Dye Guy" Young -- Troy, as he was known by family -- was born Jan. 11, 1966, to Melvin C. and Mary Ann Poorman Young.
From that day until his death Sunday, July 9, 2017, Troy never met a stranger twice. Once he met you, he would never pass you by without taking the time to share a smile and let you know you were his friend.
Troy excelled in school and graduated college, to his mother's relief.
Throughout his life, Troy created artwork with his dyes and fabrics. No white shirt was safe from his laboratory of color. It became a goal for many to own a shirt touched by the Tye-Dye Guy.
Troy is survived by his brother, Christopher Shawn Young; his sister, Kresla Hawkins; three nieces; and two great-nieces. All of them will miss his laughter, hugs and kisses.
A celebration of Troy's life will be observed from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. Please wear your tye-dye and come share you memories with family and friends.
For those who wish to continue the celebration, there will be a get-together across the street at Schock's Pub from 7 p.m. until closing.
Online condolences may be shared at www.amick-burnettfuneralchapels.com.
