Robert Edgar Bazzell, 87, of Jackson passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at his home. He was born April 26, 1930, in Jackson to Paul and Mealy Stroder Bazzell. He and Georgia Kester were married March 22, 1952. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Robert Edgar Bazzell, 87, of Jackson passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at his home.

He was born April 26, 1930, in Jackson to Paul and Mealy Stroder Bazzell. He and Georgia Kester were married March 22, 1952.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his service, he returned to his job at the old shoe factory, then within the year landed a job with Pevely Dairy as an independent milk distributor, where he worked until his retirement.

In his early years, he enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and family gatherings. After retirement, his favorite pastime was golfing with friends, building a woodshop with his son and family time during the holidays.

Robert was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson and a member of Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 in Jackson.

Loving survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Georgia Kester Bazzell, and son, Terry Bazzell, both of Jackson; a brother, Richard (Linda) Bazzell of Jackson; and a sister, Shirley (Jerry) Dewrock of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Rusty and Ronnie Bazzell; and a brother, Larry Bazzell.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jason Shaw officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with full military honors.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the American Stroke Association or St. Paul Lutheran Church.
