Mary J. Jones, 87, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017, at her home.

She was born May 4, 1930, in Cape Girardeau County to Clarence and Hilda Ritter McBride.

She and James "J.W." Jones were married Feb. 11, 1950, at Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson. Two children were born to their union.

Shortly after marriage, J.W. was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps. Mary joined him at Camp Pendleton in California, and they returned to Jackson in December 1953.

Mary worked at Kroger grocery in Jackson and Superior Electric in Cape Girardeau. In the 1960s they owned and operated J's Camper Sale west of Jackson. The Jones family established Midway Trailers in Benton, Missouri, in 1980. The business is now commonly known as Midway Trailer/ Missouri Great Dane. After retiring in 1990, Mary and J.W. enjoyed spending several winters in Okeechobee and Mount Dora, Florida.

Mary was a lifelong member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson. She enjoyed helping with church dinners and was a member of the former Lydia Kies Circle. She and J.W. were members of the former Hill Toppers Square Dance Club.

Loving survivors include her husband of 67 years, J.W. Jones of Jackson; two children, Steven (Patti) Jones of Jackson and Deborah (Glen) Griffin of Chaffee, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Richard) Turman of Chicago, Jason (Laura) Jones of Jackson and Jonathan Jones (Paige Brown) of Jackson; and seven great-grandchildren, Grace, Reagan, Madelyn and Lyla Turman, and Ava, Warren and Charlotte Jones.

She was preceded in death by a young brother, Paul McBride.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Joe Rowley and Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Emanuel United Church of Christ or Southeast Hospice.
