Wilma Jean Stratton, “The Stained Glass Lady,” 82, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2017, at Southeast Hospital.

She was born March 16, 1935, in Marble Hill, Missouri, to the late Milford and Mellie Marie James Stephens. She and Earl Stratton were married March 13, 1953, in Marble Hill. He preceded her in death.

Wilma was a longtime member of Cape Community Church.

She also was known as “The Stained Glass Lady” for her incredible talent. Many of her pieces are displayed in local churches, homes and businesses. At least one stained-glass piece is in each of the 50 states and several foreign countries.

She also enjoyed growing large, exotic plants in her home, several of them over 25 feet tall.

Survivors include her sons, Ronnie Earl Stratton of Cape Girardeau and Danny Gene Stratton of Oak Ridge; siblings, Juanita (Frank) Whitesell, Shirley (Paul) Farrow, Mary Brown and John “Sonny” Stephens; grandson, Alexander Crowell; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Louella Reutzel; and brothers-in-law, Cletus Reutzel and Charley Brown.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, and also one hour prior to the funeral service Sunday.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with Pastor Jeremy Clayton officiating. Entombment will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
