Mary Frances Crites, 91, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017, at the home of her caregiver in Jackson.

She was born July 26, 1926, in Cape Girardeau to Lester B. and Tommie Craig Marlin. She and Kergious Crites were married Jan. 25, 1943, in Cape Girardeau. Two children were born to their union. They had been married 71 years when Kergious passed away March 27, 2014.

Mary was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau. She and Kergious owned and operated the former Country Spanish Shop between Cape Girardeau and Jackson for more than 30 years, both retiring in 2002.

Loving survivors include two children, Kergious "Rick" (Juan) Crites of Cape Girardeau and Frances (Robert) Schlimme of St. Louis; four grandchildren, Gregory Schlimme of San Diego, Robert (Susan) Schlimme of Cumming, Georgia, Luke Crites and Abby Crites of Cape Girardeau; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Blake Schlimme.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to service time Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jeff Long officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
