Jeffery Allen

Jeffery Smyth Allen, son of the late Kenneth Lee Allen, Sr. and Malinda G. Allen, was born on March 23, 1949, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and departed this life Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017, in Cape Girardeau at the age of 68.

Mr. Allen was a veteran in the United States Marine Corps from Feb. 1968 to Sept. 1969 and served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of several clubs, including American Legion Post 369, Benton, Missouri; Fraternal Member of United Commercial Travelers of America, Cape Girardeau; Marine Corps League Detachment #1081 where he served as Honor Guard Commander and Armorer. Jeff faithfully worked on fundraising activities associated with each organization he was affiliated with. Some of his hobbies included riding his Harley-Davidson, competition shooting, collecting military memorabilia and serving the community.

On June 26, 1976, he was united in marriage to Debbie Hartman. Mrs. Allen resides of the home in Cape Girardeau.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, John C. Allen and LeAndra of Havre, Montana; two daughters, Judy N. McBride of Queens, New York, and Kimberly J. Allen of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, Donald McBride, Austin Moore, Joshua Armstrong, Olivia Armstrong, Jaiden Dixon and Kalaiya Dixon; one great-grandchild, Kobie Moore; sister-in-law, Janet Allen of St. Louis; niece Kathy Allen of Berkley, California; cousin Brady Smyth of Dexter, Missouri, along with many other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth L. Allen, Jr.

Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Mike Shupert officiating. Interment will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, family would like donations made to the Marine Corps League Detachment #1081 in Cape Girardeau.
