O'FALLON, Mo. -- Betty Belle Brannock, 93 of O'Fallon passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at Lewis and Clark Gardens in St. Charles, Missouri. She was born Aug. 25, 1924, in Advance, Missouri, to the late Melvin and Gertrude Williams Pixley. Betty married Vane Brannock on June 3, 1944. He preceded her in death in 1969. After her husband passed, she proceeded to go back to college to get a master's degree while raising her son as a single mom...

O'FALLON, Mo. -- Betty Belle Brannock, 93 of O'Fallon passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at Lewis and Clark Gardens in St. Charles, Missouri.

She was born Aug. 25, 1924, in Advance, Missouri, to the late Melvin and Gertrude Williams Pixley. Betty married Vane Brannock on June 3, 1944. He preceded her in death in 1969. After her husband passed, she proceeded to go back to college to get a master's degree while raising her son as a single mom.

Betty was a speech and hearing pathologist and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She started the Speech Pathology program at Saint Francis Hospital.

Survivors include a son, Kevin W. (Susan) Brannock of O'Fallon; grandchildren Dale W. (Alexandra) Brannock, Ross A. (Ashley) Brannock, Lance Brannock, John (Mary) Killian, Diana (Jeff) Wahl and Michael Killian; and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Also, her daughter, Elizabeth Anne Killian, and her husband, William Killian. She also was preceded in death by her siblings, Lyman (Ina) Pixley, Bernard (Eunice) Pixley, Wilma (Cletus) Stovall, Drucille (Glen) Ayers and Joan (James) Williams.

Betty was active in the Daughters of St. Francis DeSales, and volunteered at Birthright. She belonged to the American Speech and Hearing Association, as well as the New Voice Club.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral. Burial will follow in Dexter City Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be given to St. Mary's Cathedral, in care of Daughters of St. Francis DeSales or Birthright of Cape Girardeau.
