CHESTER, Ill. -- Manley O. Limbaugh, 96, of Chester passed away at 1:35 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, in Chester.

He was born March 18, 1921, to Rush Hudson and Beulah M. Seabaugh Limbaugh Sr. in Cape Girardeau.

He and Mary Heagler married Feb. 26, 1943, in Cape Girardeau.

Manley was a high school biology teacher.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chester, the Chester Lions Club, Methodist Men, Illinois Junior Academy of Science (past president) and Illinois Education Association and was a Boy Scout leader and a Christian camp counselor at Aldersgate Institute at Little Grassy, Illinois. Manley's faith in God was unwavering, and his servant spirit led him to be a surrogate father and inspiration to innumerable members of the community.

He was a dedicated husband to Mary for nearly 75 years.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Limbaugh of Chester; four children, John (Cindy) Limbaugh of Germantown, Tennessee, Dan (Paulette) Limbaugh of St. Louis, Bob (Cathie) Limbaugh of St. Charles, Missouri, and Patti (Bill) Nanney of Chester; a son-in-law, Tim Mathias of Glen Carbon, Illinois; a brother, Stephen N. Limbaugh Sr. of St. Louis; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Mary Bee Mathias; a sister, Marguerite Limbaugh; and two brothers, Rush Limbaugh Jr. and Daniel Francis Limbaugh.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Pechacek-McClure Funeral Home in Chester.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Joe Scheets and Faye Edmiaston officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Chester, the Chester Food Pantry or the Chester Lions Club.
