Singer and guitarist Tony Melendez plays the guitar Monday during the first night of a four-day parish mission at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Cape Girardeau. Born without arms, Melendez began playing guitar in high school and he performed for Pope John Paul II on Sept. 15, 1987, in Los Angeles. Melendez will continue to share his ministry at 6:30 p.m. nightly, concluding Thursday night with the sacrament of reconciliation.
