Keith Ross Fee, 59, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, March 16, 2018, at the Missouri Veteran's Home in Cape Girardeau, where he had been a resident for six years. Keith Ross Fee, 59, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, March 16, 2018, at the Missouri Veteran's Home in Cape Girardeau, where he had been a resident for six years.

He was born Aug. 24, 1958, in Cape Girardeau to Ronald R. and Lee Ross Fee.

He attended school at Cape Girardeau Public School until his family transferred to Jefferson City, Missouri, when he was 15 years old. He graduated from Jefferson City High School in 1976.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Jefferson City.

He began his National Guard career working as a custodian at the National Guard Armory in Cape Girardeau. He enlisted in the Army National Guard on Sept. 9, 1983, with his proud daddy, Col. Ronald R. Fee, swearing him in. When he returned from active duty, he served in a civilian capacity servicing Howitzer cannons, where he quickly became the top Howitzer mechanic in the state. He was called to active duty Jan. 28, 2005, and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, serving in Iraq and Kuwait. Keith was honorably discharged March 3, 2006, earning his second Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal and Iraq Campaign Medal. Keith retired from the National Guard on June 3, 2009. While in the Guard, he attained the rank of sergeant first class.

Survivors include a sister, Rhonda Kaye (Stephen) Ray of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Kevin R. (Lisa) Fee of Warrensburg, Missouri, and Bruce A. (Carla) Fee of Cape Girardeau; four nieces; three nephews; one great-niece; and one great-nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will follow at noon Tuesday in the Missouri Veterans Home chapel, with the Rev. Richard Ross officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau, with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions be made to the Missouri Veterans Home.
