After more than 20 years in Cape Girardeaus downtown, Judiths Antiques & Gung Ho Militaria is trading the banks of the Mississippi River for those of Hubble Creek in Jackson.

Owner Judith Golightly said shes excited about the move itll be different, but shes looking forward to it.

Golightlys store has a little bit of a lot of things. Shes carried antiques and military memorabilia in her downtown shop for about 26 years, she said, and shell take that model to Hubble Creek Antiques & Market at 3184 N. High St. in Jackson.

Golightlys store isnt the only new face moving in. Owner Ray Bollinger, who owns the antique shop with his wife, Della, said six or seven new vendors are moving in, filling all available booth space.

Bollinger said he had originally wanted to sell the shop, but after talking with Golightly, decided to hold on to it for the time being.

The entire facility has gotten a face-lift, Bollinger added.

Golightly said the ceiling has been done in tin, the interior walls covered in barn wood.

Its going to be a different look, Golightly said. Its really pretty.

Theres also a small garden plot in front of her section of the market, Golightly said, and shes already been planting in preparation for the grand opening celebration Sunday afternoon.

Yes, its Easter Sunday, and yes, its April Fools Day, but Golightly said shes still planning to be there from 1 to 4 p.m. with food and her merchandise, ready for shoppers.

I dont know how many will be open Sunday, but theyre fixing to break it wide open, Bollinger said of the new vendors.

One of those vendors is Junkin Gal Debbie Birk, who specializes in upcycling furniture with artistic flair.

Birk has sold her pieces at Golightlys store and, she said, shes really looking forward to having her own space near Golightlys new spot.

Birk said she redecorated the former storage shed and filled it with her signature furniture.

Its the little red building, she said, laughing.

Birk said theyve done a lot of work since February, when she and Judith signed on at Hubble Creek.

Judith had a lot more to move, Birk said. Mine wasnt so difficult.

Birk said the other vendors will have a wide variety of merchandise available.

Its like a whole new level out there now, she said.
