Easter weekend -- also known as the unofficial start of spring -- is celebrated many different ways. You might hang out with friends and family downtown, chaperone local egg hunts (which we have a lot of) or maybe attend the Good Friday and Easter Sunday celebration at your hometown church. Whichever rabbit trail you take this weekend, here are some suggestions:

Remembering Ricky Nelson

If you're planning to spend your Saturday night at Isle Casino in Cape Girardeau, you're in luck. Twin brothers Matthew and Gunner Nelson will perform shows at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. in honor of their family's legacy and stardom since the 1950s.

The twins' father was "teen idol" and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Ricky Nelson, mother Kristin was voted most beautiful woman in the world by Life Magazine in 1945, and their grandparents were known as stars from the late 1950s television show "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet."

In a telephone interview Tuesday, Gunner Nelson said growing up he and his brother didn't know anything different than living with his family's "celebrity status" and said this weekend's show is to primarily celebrate his father's music.

"It's a proper show. It tells the whole story of our dad's life and career," Nelson said. "He was not a TV actor who happened to make music. He was really a musician who happened to be a pretty cool actor."

Ricky Nelson Remembered event information can be found online at islecape.com.
