Rodney L. Poston, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 11, 1932, in Advance, Missouri, to William "Bill" and Mildred Sitze Poston. He and Virginia M. Smith were married June 25, 1952, at Cape Girardeau. She preceded him in death May 26, 2007. He and Helen McCormack were married May 16, 2009, at Cape Girardeau.

Rodney served in the Army and retired from Cape GMC Pontiac. He will be remembered by many for his love of family and passion for cars. He was a member of Capaha Antique Car Club and on many days could be found tinkering in his garage or at a car show with his 1930 Model A Ford.

He was a member of First General Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Poston of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Debbie (Mark) Lunte and Bev (Jim) Givens, both of Arnold, Missouri, and Shelley (Mike) Lucas of Jackson; a son, Rodney L. Poston Jr. of Louisville, Kentucky; a sister, Janet Poston of Jackson; two brothers, Ronald R. Poston (Nancy) of Cape Girardeau and Richard Poston (Dorothy) of Jackson; a sister-in-law, Lucille Poston of Waco, Texas; 11 grandchildren, David Smith, Darren Smith, Dana Kuehn, April Lunte, Scott Lunte, Jenisha Jones, Jamie Givens, Courtney Givens, Brooke Brantley, Allyssa Poston and Caleb Poston; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Virginia M. Poston; a daughter, Karen Lipps; a brother, William "Bill" Poston Jr.; and a great-grandson.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Jim Rudolph and Sam Ramdial officiating. Burial will be at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, with full military honors.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
