Barbara Louise Wallace, 87, was welcomed into her Savior's arms Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at her home in Cape Girardeau, surrounded by family.

She was born Feb. 9, 1931, daughter of Harry and Lillian Gluckhertz. She and Farris Wallace married Nov. 21, 1947. He passed June 26, 2004.

She was a member of First General Baptist Church, where she cooked and served faithfully for the church family every Wednesday night. She served in other capacities as well, including Sunday morning greeter, substitute teacher and volunteer for women's groups and was instrumental in restarting the Joy group.

Barbara Louise served in every volunteer position for the Cape Girardeau Nutrition Center, including board member. She was a volunteer with the American Red Cross, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a member of the Silver Haired Legislative Committee and worked the voter polling booths. After serving her faith, she served her family. She was a loving and devoted mother to her children.

Surviving are five children, Farris "Buddy" (Eileen) Wallace, Cindy (Keith) Robertson, Sue (John) Mohorc, Patty Langston and Lisa (Gary) Helle; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Laura (Raymond) Moore; a brother-in-law, Bill (Pat) Wallace; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Harry Jr. and Charles; a half sister, Drusilla; and two granddaughters, Mary Catherine and Erin Elizabeth Robertson.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at First General Baptist Church, 1813 Cape La Croix Road in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Revs. Sam Ramdial and Jim Rudolph officiating. Burial will be at Lorimier Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to First General Baptist Church, Honduras Faith Home (C/O Janet Poston, 1813 Cape La Croix Road, Cape Girardeau), or Cape Nutrition Center (912 N. Clark St., Cape Girardeau).
