CAIRO, Ill. -- Orval Godsey, 83, of Cairo, formerly of Jonesboro, Illinois, died Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Aperian Care in Cairo.
He was born May 4, 1935 in Winston County, Alabama, the son of Guin Walter and Lilly Lou Riddle Godsey.
For more than 40 years, Orval was a hard-working man in construction. He enjoyed fishing and auto repair and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was of the Baptist faith.
Orval is survived by one son, Robert Godsey of Chester, Illinois; two daughters, Robin Owen of McClure, Illinois, and Rhonda Keibler of Cairo; five grandchildren, Charles Keibler, Braxton Owen, Cayden Keibler, Brayden Keibler and AnnaBelle Owen; one sister, Angie Sandeen of Tennessee; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Albert Godsey.
A memorial gathering will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Crain Funeral Home in Cairo.
Memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Buddy Walls officiating.
