Carolyn Welter

GRANITE CITY, Ill. -- Carolyn Marie Welter, 70, of Granite City passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois.

She was born June 16, 1947, in Cape Girardeau to Ellis "Buck" and Helen Graham Whittaker.

Carolyn was a security officer for District 150 schools in Peoria, Illinois, for 30 years. She enjoyed playing video poker machines and taking trips to Las Vegas.

Survivors include a son, Jeff (Sandy) Welter of Mahomet, Illinois; a daughter, Kimberly Freese of Peoria; and three grandchildren, Brady Welter, Courtney Freese and Landon Freese.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, William Whittaker Sr.; and two sisters, Delores Ann and Gayla Ann Whittaker.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Jeff Long officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to the COPD Foundation or the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation.
