PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- John William "Billy" Laurentius, 67, of Perryville died Monday, June 18, 2018, at his home in Cape Girardeau County. He was born Dec. 15, 1950, in Perryville, son of John A. and Bertha J. Schemel Laurentius. John was a farmer. He enjoyed gardening and loved growing trees. He was a fabulous source of local history and a graduate of Oak Ridge High School, class of 1969...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- John William "Billy" Laurentius, 67, of Perryville died Monday, June 18, 2018, at his home in Cape Girardeau County.

He was born Dec. 15, 1950, in Perryville, son of John A. and Bertha J. Schemel Laurentius.

John was a farmer. He enjoyed gardening and loved growing trees. He was a fabulous source of local history and a graduate of Oak Ridge High School, class of 1969.

Survivors include three brothers and six sisters, Robert (Rita) Laurentius of Maryland Heights, Missouri, Judy (Curtis) Mangels of Jackson, Gerald (Mary) Laurentius of Perryville, Jane Laurentius of Maryland Heights, Karen (Larry) Baer of Perryville, JoAnn (David) Lang of Old Appleton, Rick (Laura) Laurentius of Perryville, Debra (Paul) Young of Creve Coeur, Missouri, and Vicki (Stanley) Newsome of Maryland Heights; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sandra Koehler.

Services for John W. Laurentius will be private at a later date.

Memorials are preferred to the National Kidney Foundation.

Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville provided the arrangements.
