McCLURE, Ill. -- Edward Lee Shell, 79, of McClure passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 17, 1938, in Lutesville, Missouri, the son of the late Woodrow and Elenora Shell Shell.
Edward worked as an over-the-road truck driver for 40-plus years for several different companies, the last of which was Gilster. He loved spending time with his family and tinkering in his yard. He lived life to the fullest.
Loving survivors include a daughter, Laura (Jack) Taber of Cape Girardeau; a son B.J. (Amy) Shell of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; and an uncle, Alva Shell of Eureka, Missouri. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Dean Best, Jessica (Cody) Kinder, Blake (Shealee) Best, Owen Shell and Lucy Shell; three great-grandchildren, Landen Best, Alisa Kinder and Kinslee Kinder; and a great-grandchild due to arrive soon, Wava Kinder.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Shell; a daughter, Lisa Poston; a very special friend, Janet Lowes; a brother, Waymond Shell; a sister, Euva Mae Brown; and a grandson, Leland Gorman.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the VFW Hall in Cape Girardeau.
