Carmen Laverne Propst, 86, of Dutchtown died Friday, July 20, 2018, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Missouri. She was born Oct. 11, 1931, in Allenville to the late Elbert Howard and Flossie Cramer Vance. She married Fred Marion Propst on Aug. 31, 1948, and he preceded her in death Jan. 8, 2005. Carmen Laverne Propst, 86, of Dutchtown died Friday, July 20, 2018, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Missouri.

She was born Oct. 11, 1931, in Allenville to the late Elbert Howard and Flossie Cramer Vance. She married Fred Marion Propst on Aug. 31, 1948, and he preceded her in death Jan. 8, 2005. She was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Propst, and a brother, Don Vance.

Carmen was raised a Southern Baptist, She was a member of First Baptist Church in Delta and attended Hooe Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Delta Senior Citizens. She loved to quilt and embroidery.

She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Kenneth) Shoemaker of Advance, Missouri; one brother, Bill Vance of Delta; two sisters, Violet (Lewis) Ware of Delta and Bessie Jane Grojean of Cape Girardeau; five grandsons, Kenny Lee Shoemaker, Jason (Jen) Propst, Jamie �Joe� (Theresa) Shoemaker, Justin (Kristy) Shoemaker and Hunter (Reanna Coomer) Shoemaker; eight great-grandchildren, Jacob, Samuel and Elijah Shoemaker, Matthew and Hannah Propst, Katrina Strouth and Kolyn and Lennon Shoemaker; and a great-granddaughter due in November.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Tuesday at Amick Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Phil Thompson and the Rev. Randy Conn officiating. Burial will be at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
