ADVANCE, Mo -- Carol Joyce Holder, 80, of Advance passed away Monday, Oct. 8, 2018, at her home. She was born Feb. 8, 1938, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Omer and Pearl Harris Winchester. Early in her life, her mother married Norman Markham. Joyce and Jack Holder were united in marriage, and he preceded her in death July 5, 1981...

ADVANCE, Mo -- Carol Joyce Holder, 80, of Advance passed away Monday, Oct. 8, 2018, at her home.

She was born Feb. 8, 1938, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of Omer and Pearl Harris Winchester. Early in her life, her mother married Norman Markham. Joyce and Jack Holder were united in marriage, and he preceded her in death July 5, 1981.

Joyce was employed for 50 years as a factory worker. She was a member of Dongola Friendship Baptist Church in Dongola, Missouri. She was an avid card player. She loved spending time socializing with her family and friends. She enjoyed reading and was an animal lover.

Survivors include three sons, Kevin (Sue) Holder of Marble Hill, Missouri, and Tim (Missy) Holder and Kendric Holder, both of Advance; a special friend, Les Fugate of Advance; two brothers, Don and Jim Winchester, both of Marble Hill; and two grandchildren, Jack Holder-Coleman and Jessica Holder Coleman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a baby son, Jason Holder; and two daughters, Terri and Carol Ann Holder.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gary Cooper officiating and the Rev. Ronnie McAtee assisting. Burial will follow at Dongola Cemetery in Dongola.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to her grandchildren's college fund.
