Mark Alan Bentlage, 61, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, at his home.

Mark was born March 7, 1957, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to Raymond and Opal Bentlage. Mark and Peggy Thomason were united in marriage June 6, 1981, and she survives of the home.

He graduated from Union High School in Union, Missouri, in 1975. He was a recipient of a Southeast Missouri State University scholarship to play basketball for the Indians, where he played from 1975-1977.

Mark previously worked for United Furniture Sales as store manager, Horton Sales Co., United Distributing, Cape Tractor Trailer and Elks Lodge No. 639.

He was a youth league coach for baseball, basketball and football for many years. Mark was a high school baseball umpire for 19 years.

He was a member of the Cape Elks Lodge 639 and was a former ER and long-time lake chairman.

Other survivors include one son, Andrew (Rachel) Bentlage of Cape Girardeau; a grandson, Archer Bentlage of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Doug (Debbie) Bentlage of Muskego, Wisconsin; and a nephew, Nicholas Bentlage of Muskego.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation and celebration of life will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Elks Lodge, Upper Hall, in Cape Girardeau.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
