SIKESTON, Mo. -- Linda Sutton Veale, 70, of Sikeston, formerly of Thebes, Illinois, passed away Jan. 4, 2019, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. SIKESTON, Mo. -- Linda Sutton Veale, 70, of Sikeston, formerly of Thebes, Illinois, passed away Jan. 4, 2019, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Nov. 5, 1948, the daughter of William and Cleotha Skinner Cruse.

Linda was a loving and kind woman. She was caregiver to many and loved to help others. She was a compassionate friend, mother, wife and a second-mother to many.

She is survived by her daughters, Laura (Rick) Ramsey and Lana (Luke) Held; son, James Aaron (Rachel) Sutton; four grandchildren, Nicole (Dakota) Watson, Patrick Ramsey (fiancee, Alyssa), Olivia Sutton and Lucas Held; one great-grandson, Levi Riker Watson; sisters, Catherine Nicholas, Vickie Poppen and Bonnie (William) Allen; husband, Pete Veale; and nieces, nephews and other loved ones.

Linda was preceded in death by her first husband, James Sutton; her parents; one brother, Harry Cruse; and one sister, Shirley Green.

Linda's family will host a memorial service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Thebes, with the Rev. Dr. Rick Ramsey and the Rev. Aaron Sutton officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.
