Helen Edwards-Matthews

Helen R. Edwards-Matthews, 65, of Cape Girardeau passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 3, 1953, in Cape Girardeau to Robert Louis and Edna Bright Edwards.

Helen retired as a social worker with the Division of Aging.

Survivors include her mother, Edna Wren of Cape Girardeau; son, Jason (Vickie) Edwards of Zebulon, North Carolina; daughter, Phaedra Edwards of Cape Girardeau; brothers, David (Tammy) Dabbs and Charley (Cherie) Wren; sister, Eileen (Denny) Graham; stepbrother, Winifred (Marietta) Wren; stepsister, Mary (Mark) Shoemaker; and grandchildren, Zoe and Marisa Fields, Isaac Edwards and Sierra Jones.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Louis Edwards; stepfather, Charley Wren; stepmother, Linda Edwards; husband, David Matthews; sister, Patti Jayne; and nephew, Whitley Dabbs.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joe McCullough officiating. Burial will follow at New Lorimier Cemetery.
