Omer “Joe” Geyssens Jr., 69, of Jackson died Friday, March 8, 2019, at his home.

He was born May 29, 1949, in Moline, Illinois, to Omer Sr. and Carlene Geyssens. He and Brenda L. White were married April 14, 1990, at Moline.

Joe was a graduate of Moline High School and also attended Black Hawk Community College in Moline.

He was a forklift technician for MH Equipment in East Moline, Illinois, and NACO in North Carolina. He retired in 2011.

He lived most of his life in Moline, but has been in Jackson a number of years. He loved to weld and liked to fix things. He also worked at the Senior Center in Cape Girardeau.

Joe was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda L. Geyssens of Jackson; seven sons, Todd Geyssens of Moline, Larry (Janet) White of Sodus, New York, Jody (Amy) Geyssens of Moline, Shawn (Danielle) Geyssens of Moline, Tony (Laura) White of Cape Girardeau, Michael Geyssens of Moline and Dean Birchfield of Jackson; two daughters, Angela Geyssens of Moline and Laura Sanders of Chaffee, Missouri; a sister, Sharon (Steve) Forsythe of Coal Valley, Illinois; a stepbrother, Fred (Donna) Viren of Kings Row, California; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
