Jane Matthews

Jane Matthews, 94, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at Life Care Center.

She was born Sept. 16, 1924, in Randles, Missouri, to Louis G. and Anna Berry Matthews.

Jane worked for American Red Cross during World War II. She also worked for Monsanto for 35 years, retiring in 1985.

Jane had a unique personality and sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a "real character" and always had a good time.

Loving survivors include five nephews, Brad Pickett, Charles Pickett, Mike Stroder, Louis Matthews Jr. and Roger Pickett; niece, Susan O'Connell; brother-in-law, Floyd Stroder; and numerous great-nieces and -nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Louis "Bud" Matthews; sisters, Virginia Crockett, Martha Pickett and Carolyn Stroder; and Eloise DeLap, close friend and roommate for 40 years.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at noon Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.
