Tanya Scirocco

Tanya Shantelle Scirocco, 64, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at her home.

The daughter of Doris Ray Stephens and Barnes Kenneth Watson, Tanya was born May 6, 1955, in Wichita Falls, Texas, at Sheppard Air Force Base.

She lived in numerous places over the years including parts of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Missouri.

While she put in more than nine years of service in the recovery room at Saint Francis Hospital, three years in the hospitality industry and many years of her life working in customer service, Tanya's proudest accomplishment was her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her children: son, Marcus John Scirocco and his wife, Summer Rogillo Scirocco, of Natchez, Mississippi, and daughter, Medina Shantelle Scirocco of Cape Girardeau; grandchildren, Nicholas Cade Scirocco, Emery Adele Scirocco and Jazlyn Shantelle Scirocco; sister, Debbie Kay Sansone and her husband, Ronnie Wedgeworth; nephew, Anthony Sansone, and niece April Sansone Sturgeon; ex-husband, Mark Scirocco; and great-nieces and -nephews, numerous cousins and other loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Ray Stephens Long; father, Barnes Kenneth Watson; first son, Kenneth Shannon Kinney; younger sister, Kenya Medina Watson; nephew, James Gerry Sansone; and many other close friends and other family members.

Tanya was an avid reader and loved animals. She will be fondly remembered for her amazing sense of humor and how she always had a joke ready. She loved music and never stopped listening to her old favorites, while continuing to find new artists and music to add to her extensive eclectic repertoire of favorites and music knowledge.

After recently moving into a new home with her daughter, she had one wall hanging she had already put up that reads "Whichever Way the Wind Blows! Well, here I am God ... what next?" May what's next be all that has been promised, and she live in eternal peace and perfection with our heavenly Father. She will be truly missed here on Earth.

A small memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at 2 N. Park St. in Cape Girardeau with a second memorial being held in the near future with loved ones in the Louisiana and Mississippi area.
