Allene Reaves, 93, formerly of Jackson, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 4, 2019, in Gordonville at the home of her nephew and his wife, Scott and Rebecca Wright, where she resided the last five years.

She was born Sept. 6, 1925, in Cape Girardeau County, daughter of Elmer and Anna Nitsch Wright. She and Harry David Reaves II were married for more than 45 years. A son was born to their union, Harry "David" Reaves III.

Allene was a 1943 graduate of St. Mary's High School in Cape Girardeau. After graduation, she worked five years in the office of the former International Shoe factory in Cape Girardeau. She successfully tested and became eligible to work for the federal government, subsequently working seven years at the Pentagon and numerous years in geological surveying, retiring in 1987.

In 1987, Allene moved to Grand Junction, Colorado, to enjoy her retirement years. After moving back to Missouri in 2015, she enjoyed spending time with her great-niece, Britnie (Aaron) Unterreiner and their children, Aiden and Henley, and great-nephew, Tyler Jones and his son, Skylar Jones.

Loving survivors include two nephews, Scott (Rebecca) Wright and Dean (Sharyl) Wright; two nieces, Wendy (Gary) Parker and Donna (Steve) Stedman. Also surviving are 12 great-nieces and -nephews and three great-great-nieces and -nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2004, son in 2001 and brother, Harold (Mollie) Wright, in 2002.

Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Fred Burgard officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Saint Francis Hospice.
