Joan Virginia Mason, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, July 21, 2019, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.

She was born Dec. 7, 1926, in Hastings, North Dakota, to Arthur L. and Henrietta Olson Froemke. She and Alfred LaVern Mason were married Feb. 26, 1949, at Valley City, North Dakota.

She was a graduate of Valley City State College in Valley City.

She was a school teacher in Cline, Montana, for one and a half years, four years at Rolla, Missouri, and 19 years at Oran, Missouri, Elementary School.

She was a member of Eastern Star for 50 years and White Shrine of Jerusalem for 20 years.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Al Mason of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Elaine J. (Leemon) Priest of Jackson; three sons, Harold L.(Carolyn) Mason of Rossville, Georgia, Craig A. (Joyce) Mason of St. Peters, Missouri, and Carl A. (Lisa) Mason of Blaine, Minnesota; sister, Rosemary Moen of Turlock, California; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Shirley Berg.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with an Eastern Star service beginning at 7 p.m., today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Eric Schmidt officiating. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to Masonic Home in Columbia, Missouri; American Cancer Society; and American Diabetes Association.
