TAMMS, Ill. -- Mary Kay Cain, 80, of Tamms passed away at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. Kay was born May 5, 1939, in Joliet, Illinois, to the late William and Margaret Gestel Pasdertz. She was a member of the Sandy Creek Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher, kitchen coordinator and member of the Women's Missionary Union. TAMMS, Ill. -- Mary Kay Cain, 80, of Tamms passed away at 11:55 a.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Kay was born May 5, 1939, in Joliet, Illinois, to the late William and Margaret Gestel Pasdertz.

She was a member of the Sandy Creek Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher, kitchen coordinator and member of the Women's Missionary Union. She was big in the Operation Christmas Child Program. She was a housewife and homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Eugene "Gene" Cain on Nov. 28, 1992, and a son, Randy E. Cain, on Nov. 13, 2008.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen (Sonny) Schultz of Tamms and Sharon (Edward) Cain of Kelso, Missouri; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Sandy Creek Baptist Church in rural Tamms and from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Revs. Clint Nale, Jeremy Muniz and Davy Miller officiating. Interment will follow in McCrite Cemetery in rural Tamms.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to her great-grandchildren's scholarship fund.
