Vincent Adam Uhrhan of Scott City was born Oct. 12, 1923, in Fornfelt, the son of Philip and Katie Caroline Felter Uhrhan, and passed away Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019, at Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Delphine, and son Norman.

Vincent served in the Army during World War II and was awarded four Bronze Star medals while serving in Normandy, northern France, The Rhineland and Central Europe.

He worked for Cotton Belt and Southern Pacific railroads for more than 40 years, serving in East Louis, Illinois; Shreveport, Louisiana; Houston; and Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

Vincent was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Scott City.

Vincent was also a member of Knights of Columbus and Veterans of Foreign Wars, in which he was active for many years.

Vincent is survived by his sister, Clara Mae Moore; son, Philip Uhrhan and wife, Kathy; daughter, Patricia Evans and husband, Len; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, followed by Knights of Columbus service.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Michael Casteel as celebrant. Burial, with full military honors, will be at the church cemetery.

The family wants to thank the nurses, caregivers and staff of Lutheran Home for the love, compassion and care shown Vincent.
