Julia Winder

Julia Winder, 94, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Aug. 23, 2019, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 22, 1925, in International Falls, Minnesota, to Charles and Mabel Richardson. She married Arnold "Sluggo" McClard on Nov. 11, 1946, in north central Arkansas, where she grew up.

Julia worked as a cook in many long-gone restaurants and kitchens, including Colonial Inn, Wimpy's, Mr. C's, Traveler's, Washington School, Idan-Ha Hotel and even Southeast Hospital. She loved to brag about being a consistent winner racing the family's stock car.

She is survived by her son, Dickie Ray; her grandchildren, Dawn Strong, Clinton McClard and Jennifer McClard; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Mary June; and son, Charles Boyd.

There will be no public service.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Julia will be buried next to Arnold in New Bethel Cemetery near Pocahontas.
