Oliver August Fortner was born July 8, 2019, in St. Louis, to James and Crystal Whitt Fortner. He was seven weeks old when he passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, due to Mosaic Trisomy 13, a rare genetic disorder. Although he was hospitalized for most of his brief life, he was able to live his final few days at home, surrounded by the love of his entire family...

Oliver August Fortner was born July 8, 2019, in St. Louis, to James and Crystal Whitt Fortner. He was seven weeks old when he passed away Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, due to Mosaic Trisomy 13, a rare genetic disorder. Although he was hospitalized for most of his brief life, he was able to live his final few days at home, surrounded by the love of his entire family.

Loving survivors include his parents, James and Crystal Fortner and siblings, Annabelle and Everett, all of Jackson; paternal grandparents, Paul and Cheryl Fortner of Gordonville; maternal grandparents, Ronald and Beverly Whitt of Troy, Illinois; paternal uncle, Aaron (Chandler) Fortner and children Abigail and Eli of Cape Girardeau; and maternal uncles, Adam (Allison) Whitt and children Alexander and Zachary of San Diego and Garrett (Tara) Whitt and children Amelia and Emery of Edwardsville, Illinois.

Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m., Friday and from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The Rev. Chris Vaught will officiate the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment is private at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
