Doris G. Hurst, 83, of Jackson passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2019, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Sept. 11, 1936, in Jackson to Hubert C. and Helen V. Crader Hurst. Doris G. Hurst, 83, of Jackson passed away Monday, Dec. 30, 2019, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 11, 1936, in Jackson to Hubert C. and Helen V. Crader Hurst.

Doris was a graduate of Jackson High School. Thereafter, she lived many years in Suitland, Maryland, and enjoyed a career as an executive administrator with the FBI for over 40 years. She specialized in research, development, training, implementation of new programs, and traveled extensively.

After retirement, she returned to Jackson.

Her memberships included New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson, also the church of her baptism and confirmation, and the Order of Eastern Star in Jackson and Sikeston, Missouri. She enjoyed collecting various items of interest, sewing, knitting and crocheting, and often sold her craft items at local craft fairs.

Loving survivors include three brothers, Dennis (Barbara) Hurst of Jackson; Gary (Vickie) Hurst Sr. of Cape Girardeau and Michael (the late Florence) Hurst of Jackson; eight nieces and nephews, Denny (Donna) Hurst, Rodney (Carol) Hurst, Gary (Michele) Hurst Jr., Jeff (Angie) Hurst, Amy (Blyn) Reimann, Dawn (John) Roberts, Darren (Kim) Voelker and Sara (Bryan) Doyen; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant siblings and an infant niece.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. There will be an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m.

The funeral will be at noon Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating. Burial will follow at Crader Cemetery near Marble Hill, Missouri.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, New McKendree Methodist Church or Eastern Star of Jackson or Sikeston.
