Joseph Margrabe, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, at Heartland Care and Rehab. He was born Oct. 31, 1939, in Cape Girardeau to Emma W. Margrabe. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Joseph enjoyed reading good westerns and mysteries and hanging out at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. He also loved to fish. Joseph Margrabe, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Jan. 27, 2020, at Heartland Care and Rehab.

He was born Oct. 31, 1939, in Cape Girardeau to Emma W. Margrabe.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

Joseph enjoyed reading good westerns and mysteries and hanging out at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post. He also loved to fish. Joseph worked for Jerry Lipps Trucking.

Survivors include a sister, Carol Harris of O'Fallon, Missouri, and special friends, Debbie Colyott, April Hudgens and Taylor and Gracie Hennecke.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Elijah Allen officiating. Burial, with full military rites by the Missouri Honor Guard, will be at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Memorial contributions may be given to VFW Post No. 3838 or the Avenue of Flags.
