David Michel was born Oct. 6, 1975 and died Wednesday, March 4, 2020.

He was the beloved husband and best friend of Stacey M. Werner Michel; cherished father of Jack and Sam Michel; treasured son of Caryn Julius and the late Ronnie Michel; loving brother of Debbie Michel, Jeff (Kristin) Michel, Kathy (Ravi) Singh and Sarah (Matt) Schellingerhout; dear uncle of Kaylee, Hilton, Jude, Josie, and Ronnie Kate; son-in-law of Dan and Debra Werner, brother-in-law of Danny Werner, nephew, cousin, and friend to many.

David was an avid sportsman. His love of duck hunting now shines bright through his two sons. He was a devoted fan to Jack and Sam's endless sporting endeavors from soccer to football to hockey and baseball. It was not just the love of the game he enjoyed but the memories he made. When you didn't catch them at a sporting event you could find him and his family at the lake. The lake truly was his family's passion. The celebrations made on "Boss Hoss and the Boys," will forever live on.

David graduated from Cape Central High School in 1994. During his high school baseball career he led the team to a state championship in 1994. He pitched a 10-1 record season his senior year with an ERA just above 1.00. David earned All-State and All-Conference honors while playing at Cape Central High School. Following his high school career, he helped lead the Ford and Sons American Legion Post 63 baseball team to a state title followed by the American Legion World Series where they took 2nd place at Regionals. After his high school career David went on to pitch at Southeast Missouri State University where he received OVC pitcher of the year as a freshman in 1995. David was one of very few that became a second generation Capaha baseball player as he followed the footsteps of his father on the mound. David also played for the Elderado Broncos in 1996. His baseball career concluded in 1997 after completing his junior season with Southeast Missouri State Indians.

David was the ultimate husband, father, son, brother, and uncle. He gave his all every day for his family in everything he did. He never left his corners unpainted with a 0-2 count.
