BENTON, Mo. -- Charles Wade Jr., son of the late Charles Byron Sr. and Cora Blaes Wade, was born June 24, 1923, in Oran, Missouri, and departed this life Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at Chaffee Nursing Center in Chaffee, Missouri, at the age of 96 years.
On Nov. 10, 1947, he was united in marriage to Evangeline Wright. She survives of the home in Benton.
Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in World War II, and a former employee at Buckner-Ragsdale Department Store in Cape Girardeau.
He loved music and played his trumpet with Pop Crites and the Noveliers for many years. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton and was a resident of Benton. Charlie was a proud husband and father. His fondest memories were of time spent with them.
Besides his wife, Evangeline Wade, survivors include sons, Charles Wade III of Cairo, Illinois, and James (Linda) Wade of Benton; daughter, Lisa (Randy) Vetter of New Hamburg, Missouri; sister, Wilma Cox of Carlisle, Arkansas; grandchildren, Jeremy (Terra) Wade, Wendy (Chris) Holt, Chris (Greta) Vetter and Justin (Kristina) Vetter; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded by a great-grandson, Nick Holt.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Bala Swamy Govindu as celebrant. Interment, with full military honors, will follow in the Forrest Hills Cemetery.
