Fred Charles Springer Jr., 70, of Jackson passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau. He was born April 21, 1949, in Cape Girardeau to Fred Charles and Helen Hosea Springer. He was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1968 and Southeast Missouri State University in 1971. He was born April 21, 1949, in Cape Girardeau to Fred Charles and Helen Hosea Springer.
He was a graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1968 and Southeast Missouri State University in 1971. Upon graduation, he joined his mother, Helen, at Springer Insurance & Realty Co.
In 2010, Fred was inducted into the Southeast Missouri State University Sports Hall of Fame, along with his fellow teammates from the outstanding 1969 Southeast track team.

Survivors include a sister, Susan S. (Rick) Thornton of Sugar Grove, Illinois; and nephews, Christopher Thornton and Patrick Thornton.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
