Shirley Lee, 90, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 22, 1930, in Shanghai, China, to the late Fengyuan Dai and Rulai Lo. She married Tony Lee.

Shirley graduated from Shanghai Elizabeth Yates all-girl high school and attended St. John's University, receiving a bachelor's degree in economics.

The family immigrated to Hong Kong in 1957, then to the United States in 1972. She worked various jobs to raise her children and support her family. She was diagnosed with colon cancer and courageously fought it before retiring from the U.S. Postal Service.

During her childhood, Shirley enjoyed swimming and being the goalkeeper for her brothers' soccer practices. As an adult, she played Majiang with friends and traveled around the United States and Asia. Shirley lived in New York City for 30 years and in California for a short time before relocating to Cape Girardeau in 2003. She was fortunate to live independently until her health declined in recent months, when she chose to reside at the Lutheran Home, where she was well cared for. During the last few days of her earthly journey, Shirley accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior. She is now resting in Heaven enjoying God's eternal peace, joy and comfort.
