SEDGEWICKVILLE, Mo. — Donna Mae Yount, 82, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at her home in Sedgewickville.

She was born Feb. 1, 1938, in Patton, Missouri, to Truman and Mattie Mungle Heitman, the fourth of seven daughters. On June 9, 1956, she married William Franklin Yount, and together they had two children, Kevin Franklin (Sabine) Yount and Pamela Dawn (Terry) Drake.

She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother to Chelsie (Romain) André-Yount and her daughter, Marguerite; Tyler Yount; Caitlyn (Richard) Drozda-Mattingly, and her son, Oliver; and Kirsti Drozda and her daughter, Kora.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister.

Donna was an incredible wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend. She laughed easily, and one did not stay downhearted when Donna’s laughter filled the air. She was a wonderful cook/baker and was always gracious to anyone who entered her home. She was also an extraordinary needle worker, dressmaker and tailor throughout her life, creating beautiful formal wear for hundreds of people, and putting exceptional care into closets of clothing and Halloween costumes for her beloved grandchildren.

Her thoughtfulness was remarkable, remembering relatives’ birthdays and anniversaries with hand-picked cards. She always remained curious and read extensively, sharing things of interest with the Blue Creek Quilters as they worked and visited around many years of quilts.

She was a member of Reagan’s Chapel United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was a long-time volunteer at the harvest festival and other church work.

Donna was buried next to her beloved husband in a private service at Yount Community Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the giver’s favorite charity to help those less fortunate. One suggestion of such is Crown Hospice, which cared so wonderfully for Donna in her last days. See www.crownhospice.net/donations for details concerning donations.

Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, Missouri, was in charge of arrangements.
